Health at sea really shouldn’t be taken lightly though. Most cruise ship employees work 7 days a week because either they are the only person qualified to do their job or that the rotas allow for sufficient numbers to use everybody everyday. If you get sick it will be hard to get time off. Most ships have the right to terminate your contract if you are sick more than 3 days.
As you can see; It is important to stay fit!
The other reason is the distance between rooms on a ship. Often it can require a long walk between where you are working and where your cabin is, or where you eat. I once had a cabin which took 20 minutes to walk to from the lounge I worked in. I also had to walk several flights of stairs as we were not generally not allowed to use the elevator. I’m not suggesting that you should spend hours a day in the gym, although a lot of people do. Even if you are allowed to use the elevator try walking up the stairs regularly. Go for a walk on deck when possible. These are easy ways to improve your stamina which will reduce fatigue. It is amazing how quickly it makes a difference and being that bit fitter can add to the enjoyment of a contract. Actually, I used to lose weight on a ship which proves how lazy I was on leave.
