What Does It Take
To Work At Sea.
This is a private club for those who really actually want to do something with their lives other than just talk about it.

It's strange over the years how many people have asked me what I do/ or did for a living. In reply they always seem to say "oh I wanted to do that!"
Why is working on a cruise ship something that most people have considered doing but haven't actually done because....... Later they realise what they've missed out on?
Truth is that they have no idea what they missed. They cannot have any comprehension and boy would they be shocked if they did.
I was totally amazed that a friend had recently been looking into getting on a ship to work as a barman, and even though he had known me for 5 years; had no idea what it was that I had done for a living all those years! He clumsily made a comment about being scouted by several cruise lines and that he had been told he could go whenever he wanted. He also made a comment that he believed that I wouldn't understand what it was all about and that I wouldn't be hired by any cruise line if I tried for twenty years. It was most unfortunate that he had displayed his ignorance in this way as he was forced to listen to 3 of my friends explain that not only had I worked on ships for 10 years but that I was the most successful DJ ever to work for that cruise line. Not surprisingly he still works in a bar in Southend and has not gone anywhere.
The point is that to succeed, it's no good being blase trying to get one up on everyone, despite the boost in image that working on a cruise ship brings. It's about being someone who breaks away from the crowd, doesn't get affected by other's skepticism, and instead goes out there and finds a way to see the world.
Quite simply put: This is the way to see the world!
Right now you might be asking:
What makes you think I can do this when other's can't?
How do I go about getting a job at sea when others don't succeed? (this one is much simpler than you can imagine)
What's involved?
What's it like?
